The mission is simple: fly the first Australian designed and manufactured aircraft around the world! This exciting world-first flight will occur in a Gippsland Aeronautics GA8-TC Airvan. The flight will cover 26,740 nautical miles in 230 flight hours and burn 13,980 litres of Avgas . . . and create aviation history!
This is indeed a very proud occasion for pilots, Tim Pryse and Ken Evers, as they pilot the GA8-TC Airvan around the globe and into the pages of history.
Many of the countries being flown over are malaria-endemic countries, and thus Ken and Tim would like to raise the awareness of the plight of these countries suffering from malaria. They will do this by highlighting the malaria issues these countries are experiencing through a documentary they will create throughout the flight. There will also be the facility for people visiting this website to donate funds to both the Australian Foundation for the Peoples of Asia and the Pacific (AFAP) and to Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF).
Ken Evers and Tim Pryse have set a goal of raising $1,000,000 for these charities as they fly the first Australian manufactured aeroplane around the world, and thus the name of the mission is: Millions Against Malaria!
